The Chinese Major Philosophy and Social Sciences Program “Research on the Construction of China’s Hierarchical Medical Treatment System under the Shared Economy (No. 18ZDA085)” was approved

Wuhan, China On November 6, 2018, the National Office for Philosophy and Social Sciences announced the approval results of the 2018 funding major project for the study of philosophy and social sciences. The major project “Research on the Construction of China's Hierarchical Medical Treatment System under the Sharing Economy (No.18ZDA085)” applied by Prof. Lu Zuxun of the School of Public Health was approved and got the funding. The Chinese Major Philosophy and Social Sciences Programs is the highest-level, the most authoritative and funded scientific research project in the field of philosophy and social sciences at present.

It mainly focuses on major theoretical issues and hot issues in economic and social developments in China. In the field of public health and health management, only 2-3 major projects were approved and funded every year. The successful approval of this project is not only attributed to the solid research foundation of the team, but also due to its research contents are closely related to the key points and issues in the Medical Reform and it innovatively introduces “the Theory of Shared Economy”.

This study aims to provide new ideas and strategies in the construction of China’s Hierarchical Medical Treatment System. Moreover, it tries to clarify key issues and make breakthroughs in policy to provide an important impetus to academic development and references for the Medical Reform and formulation of health policy.

Prof. Lu Zuxun has been engaged in the research of primary health-care system for more than 30 years, and has published over 500 academic papers (including more than 100 SCI/SSCI papers) as the first author or correspondent author. He has served as the Principal Investigator (PI) of four programs funded by the National Natural Science Foundation of China (NSFC) and three sub-projects from the Ministry of Science and Technology of China. He has been awarded by the Second Prizes of Provincial-level Science and Technology Progress for three times, and presided over the compilation of nine (version) national planning textbooks. In addition, Prof. Lu serves as the deputy chairman of the “Medical Humanities and General Medicine Teaching Steering Committee” in the Ministry of Education.
