Party Branch of the undergraduate students visited the Home of the Seniors at the Fengmei Community

Wuhan, China On March 23, twenty-two comrades of the Party branch of undergraduate students from our school visited the Home of the Seniors at the Fengmei community. They have been warmly received, and spent the whole morning with the seniors, with a health knowledge propaganda, performance and on-site blood pressure measurements.

First, Yibin Ma gave a speech on the "four cornerstones of health", namely optimal diet, moderate exercise, no smoking and alcohol restriction, psychological balance. She brought the health knowledge to the old people in lay language. “Pleasant mindset is the golden key to health, easy-going personality and contentment is always helpful for longevity, hoping grandparents can maintain an optimistic and cheerful attitude, smiling at life”, she said.

"A cut of cold plums proudly stands in the snow only shows fragrance for the right person. Love my love with no regrets and this feeling last forever." Bisen Liu's sweet sliver song named "A Spray of Plum Blossoms", linger in the air and brought the old people back to the memories of the 80’s. Along with the rhythm of music, the elderly clapped their hands and indulged in it unconsciously. During the song some of the aged also sang together with him. After the performance, an old man was deeply infected and improvised to perform a song, "Broad Sky".

Then, Lan Zhang and Xiaohui Liu brought a comic dialogue "Romeo and Juliet" to the old people. "Look at the East, Juliet, get down here!" "Romeo, you really eat too much." The witty statements in this cross-talk which was adapted from the Western masterpieces, emerged in an endless stream, coupled with the vividly action of the performers, making the aged laugh heartily frequently.

After the performance, Jialin Liu, Yuge Zhang, Xinyu Wang, Jiaojiao Liao and other students made a free diagnosis for the elderly and measured their blood pressures. The aged knew that it was the students come from of Tongji Medical College and asked many health-related problems during the process. Student party members gave them some simple health guidance within the limits of their ability, exhorted the old people to cherish their body and do regular medical examinations. Meanwhile, the other students went to the rooms to accompany the elderly who was inconvenient to talk, and chatted a lot with them. Seeing the students of the same age as their grandchildren, they became talkative, delighted, wearing a smiling face and holding the student's hands tightly. Some of them taught the red songs and sang with students alternatively, making a harmonious atmosphere.

Lastlythe undergraduate student Party branch established a long-term collaboration with Fengmei communityand wished to visit the Seniors Home periodicallygive them more companionship.
